There's a lot more to the
Pinehurst-Aberdeen- Southern Pines area than just Great Golf. Whether you're a frequent visitor,
a first-timer, or a longtime resident, the area has a great mix of
activities and attractions to entertain and enlighten both
golfers and non-golfers. Take a walking tour of the quaint
Village of Pinehurst and the Southern Pines Historic
District. Visit the area's museums, take a guided tour at
the Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve, and an old-timey
carriage ride. Shop for antiques and unique gifts in the
many quaint shops of the area. And do schedule one afternoon
away from the course to visit the pottery district in the
Robbins and Seagrove area where more than 80 area families
produce some of the finest pottery in the U.S. Children will
enjoy the miniature horses at Sandhills Farm, and the
National Railroad Museum. And the natural habitat zoo at
Asheboro, a few miles north, ranks among the top five in
North America. The club scene cannot match that of large
cities, but there are several in the area that cater
to golfers. Golf may be number one on your Pinehurst- area
vacation agenda, but plan to take a little time to savor the
history and charm of the area, too.
