MYRTLE BEACH, SC -- Dunes Golf and Beach Club has been honored by Golfweek
as one of "The Best 100 Classical Golf Courses in America." The Dunes is ranked
number 73 and is the only Myrtle Beach course on the 2000 list.
Golfweek compiles its annual list with rating criteria such as
landscaping, strategic flexibility, conditioning and routing. The Dunes Golf and Beach
Club was designed by Robert Trent Jones. Each hole has its own individual name to aptly
describe the hole, giving the golfer an idea of what to expect.
"Waterloo," hole 13, is the signature hole of the Dunes
course. Famous worldwide, it is a forbidding hole where Lake Singleton comes into play.
"Waterloo" has received practically every accolade and award as one of the
greatest golf holes in the world.
"Were honored to have once again made this prestigious
list," said Cliff Mann, Director of Golf at Dunes Golf and Beach Club. "To be
the only course in Myrtle Beach to make this list is quite an accomplishment. The Dunes
has a long and prestigious history and were proud to be recognized as one of
Americas best courses."
Dunes Golf and Beach Club has also been named in the "Top 100
Courses" by both Golf Magazine and Golf Digest, and the famed 13th hole
has been selected by Sports Illustrated as one of the "Best 18 Holes in
America." The Dunes Golf and Beach Club is located at 9000 North Ocean Blvd.
