Golf Link TravelMyrtle Beach: Attractions
Shopping/dining/entertainment complexes
are a big attraction night and day -- and
you'll find lots of other exciting things
to see and do when not on the course.

WHAT TO SEE AND DO:

Atlanta Braves fans might catch a Myrtle Beach Pelicans game, a Braves' Class A affiliate team. Lovers of art and history will enjoy a visit to Brookgreen Gardens, home of the largest outdoor statuary exhibit in the world, or the Rice Museum in Georgetown. Ripleys Aquarium delights and educates both adults and children. If you like to "drive hard" off the golf course too, don't miss the NASCAR or GrandPrix speed parks for racers of all ages. A visit to an amusement park is a must-do if children are with you: one features Myrtle Beach's legendary wooden roller coaster the Swamp Fox, another the newest thriller roller coaster Hurricane. There's lots of Boardwalk fun, including a teen nightclub. Live theatres offer day and evening shows, and there's shopping galore -- see our Entertainment and Shopping sections.

> For complete information on all to see and do, we highly recommend the excellent book The Insiders Guide to Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand by two in-the-know local writers. At just $13.56, it's the best bargain on the beach! Order below.

ART & NATURE: Brookgreen Gardens
Since opening nearly 70 years ago, Brookgreen Gardens has introduced visitors from around the world to an enchanting and compelling showcase of art and nature. Featuring the largest outdoor sculpture exhibit in the world, the gardens sit on a 300-acre parcel in the heart of a 9,100-acre preserve on the lower Strand that stretches from the Atlantic to historic rice fields along the Waccamaw River. Educational programs for both adults and children are also offered.

THRILLS: The Hurricane

New in April 2000, this steel/wooden roller coaster at the Myrtle Beach Pavilion provides variety of thrilling elements. After climbing to a height of 110 feet the coaster inches its way above the high point, then plummets down a 53- degree gut- wrenching first drop -- ultimately reaching the force of three g's. Rising quickly into a high, riders are then treated to exhilarating fast and furious plunges with lots of airtime. A final quick, reverse helix sends riders into the final stretch of brakes and the loading station area. The coaster train passing into and out of the batter structure creates the sensation of an intricate, twister-style coaster. Golfer coaster fans, you need to experience The Hurricane Category 5!
